Hey Everyone

UFC officially announced my next fight last week. I am fighting Thiago Tavares at UFC 88. (http://www.mmajunkie.com/kurt-pellegrino-vs-thiago-tavares) I am really excited for the fight, its gonna be an exciting one. I have a great camp put together with great coaches and great training partners. I have to thank all my guys in advance for taking time to help me train. All my teamates at my academy, Killer Greg, Roddy, Soto, Sugar Steve, Sir Tom, Lester and my students who are taking time to stay a little later or come in a little earlier to help me out. I also have Miguel Torres coming out in a couple weeks to help and the Florian crew will be down after Kenny's fight. My boxing coach Mickey Red is working me hard and my stregnth and conditioning coaches, Kevin Kearns and Sharon Wentworth who are helping me out alot. I have to say thanks especially to Kevin Kearns for being such a great guy and a great motivator. He is a master at stregnth and conditioning and I am happy to have him as one of my new coaches.

Right now I am in Boston (aka TITLETOWN! ha) training with Kenny and his camp while he gets ready to take on Roger Huerta in a couple weeks. I will be back to the Jersey shore soon!! cont...

Hey everyone

Sorry I have been MIA for a while. Alot has been going on and I've been really busy. I was up in Boston training with my man KenFlo and it was awesome. I'll be going back up there soon. My wife and I also sold our house in Florida and have recently moved back to NJ with our daughter. It was hard to leave The Armory, the students, and my good friends there, but it was the right move to make for my family. I am training hard and have great training partners up here in NJ, some old and some new. Its awesome and feels good to be back in NJ. My boxing coach is here in NJ so its going to be good. You'll see me back in UFC action by September.

I am in the process of opening a great facility for my own gym. It will take me a month or 2 to get it set up how I want. Starting July 1st I am teaching and training temporarily at 911 Main Street in Belmar, NJ (the old Jersey Shore BJJ) until my new location is ready to go. Please stop in, everyone is more than welcome! I have fighters training for theirs fights in Ring of Combat and Battlecage this month and next. I have my fighters in Florida training hard for the fights on July 12th at Battlecage Exteme. I'll be there cornering with Tim "bone". RJ Goodridge is fighting at 155 and Justin Haskins is fighting for the 170 pound title. It will be an awesome event. Look forward to seeing everyone there.

TRAINING WITH MIGUEL TORRES!!!!!!!!

Submitted by Kurt Pellegrino on Fri, 05/09/2008 - 13:06.

WEC CHAMP Miguel Torres brought me out to his gym in Chicago last week to help him train for his title defense on June 1st. I can tell you all now, he is the best 135lb fighter in the world!! I was brought out there to help him out with something that im very good at, and i have to tell you all that he is the man. He picked up all the moves that i was showing him right away and that is a true sign of a great champ. Not only is he a great fighter, but a great guy. I stayed in his house with his daughter and wife and felt like i was part of the fam. So thanks to them for that! I even played GEARS OF WAR until 3:00am with his friends Blue, Daniel, & Little. And i kicked your ass in that game if anyone wanted to know ha ha. Miguel is a great friend of mine now and is planning on coming down to The Armory a week before his fight to train some more. I'll also be heading out to Sacramento to corner Miguel for the fight. I know he is going to do awesome and bring that belt home again, so all my fans out there i know will become Miguel ("Robin") Torres fans now ha ha ha!

The guys go 4-0 at the fights last weekend!!

Submitted by Kurt Pellegrino on Fri, 04/25/2008 - 12:08.

Sorry i have not been on in a while i have been sick thanks to why little girl priscilla ha ha. So anyway the guys team went 4-0 last week with Raf coming out kicking and punching then finding the takedown and getting his back for the ref to stop the fight by tko from strikes. Guedes came out looking for the takedown and getting it right off the bat and finding a side head and arm choke for the tap. RRRRRRRRRRRRJ looking to stand up, scores a big head kick that rocks his guy against the cage then RJ takes him down gets his back and chokes him out in less than a minute. Justin looked for a big punch gets into the clinch scores the takedown then starts his mean ground and pound for about three mins with the guy finding ways to get up but justin keeps putting him down and using his ground and pound to weaken him. After a bit of this back and fourth with slams and punching from the gaurd by justin he gets his back and chokes him out for the win! All i want to say is for all the coaches at the Armory, Joe, Tim Bone, and all the stundents that help the guys thanks for everything. As a fighter you need all the help u can get. As for the fighters great job, i knew you guys where going to do great. Keep up the hard work and train hard, dream big, and go for it...

Kurt Pellegrino

Kurt agreed to do an interview for sherdog.net in order to connect with the fans. If you have any more questions for Kurt you can post them in the forum and he will do his best to answer each and every one!

Wrestler145:do you have any prefight rituals or superstitions?

Kurt: I always make sure I tell myself to fight great and don’t hurt the person im going to fight and don’t get hurt myself because that’s the best victory.

Wrestler145: do you have specific reasons for the hair colors for each fight?

Kurt: No not really I do it because it make me feel like im a warrior in the old days getting ready to go to battle.

Multiple Submissions: Was the move from side control back into Nate's guard deliberate?

Kurt: Yes everything I do is deliberate that’s where I felt good at. I felt slow everywhere else and I knew that being in his guard would keep me on my toes.

solidsnakebite, igorvswanderlei: What did you think of the pre-win celebration Nate did???

Kurt: I have not watched the fight yet and I really don’t care what he did. Good job to nate

Gum_drop: Coming off the loss is there any one specific contender in the division who you think you would match up well against that would help get you back into the LW contention mix?

Armory guys go 4 and 0 over the weekend! Justin and RJ cornered by Kurt put on an impressive show in Atlantic City in front of a sold out crowd. RJ submitted his opponant in 38 seconds of the first round by rear naked choke. Justin submitted his opponant at about the 2 minute mark of the 1st round by rear naked choke as well! Kevin Roddy looked great and fought a war against Tim Troxell, but lost a split decision. Down in Alabama the same night Raphael Chaves won by TKO in the first round and Edwardo Guedes won by choke also in the first round!! It was a great night for the guys and they all are looking forward to getting back in the cage!
